NICIT TECHNOLOGY GATEWAY

A booklet named ‘NICIT Technology Gateway ’ is brought out for circulation among industry providing details of the students for ‘Placement Opportunity’

INTRODUCTION

In plant training is an essential and integral part of M.E/B.E Degree and Diploma courses/ curriculum of various universities and educational institutions in almost all parts of India. Inplant training and project work is carried out in various R&D / Industrial/ Operational Organizations.

This training is generally a practical work or a project work followed by report / thesis submission to the authorities. Students are deputed to various industrial / research organizations based on various subjects of interest allotted by their respective institutions. This practical training and project work help students to understand industrial and outside environment. In other words, this acts as a bridge between academic institutions and industries for various job opportunities and building future professional careers of students after completion of their Degree / Diploma courses

SALIENT BENEFITS OF IN PLANT TRAINING & PROJECT WORK

  • It acts as a bridge between academic institutions and industrial organizations for students who will be pursuing their professional careers.
  • Students are exposed to practical work which helps them building confidence level and provide job opportunities.
  • Project work & report remains a evidence of practical ability of one’s performance.
  • This work enhances their ability for jobs and opens a gateway to outside world (Industries, R&D Institutions, higher academic institutions) and changes them.
It has been a general practice that adequate attention is not paid to this ‘Career building’ opportunity during 4-6 months duration.
Based on the above, MCBS and NICIT have worked out a unique programme for “In plant Training and project work”. This has been developed on the basis of experience, research & analysis and surveys carried out.

INPLANT TRAINING & PROJECT HI-LIGHTS

  • NICIT has planned and implemented this programme based on various factors such as (a) students background (b) duration of in plant training (c) choice of projects by students and their institutions
  • Projects will be based on (a) Research & Development (b) Design & Development (c) Study Projects (d) Project implementation. Students are provided with a thorough revision of academics of the subject during training period.
  • Students will be provided with training on ‘Additional Focus’ which includes soft skill training
  • Projects will be in the field of Electronics, IT and Communication
  • There will be a choice of more than 500 projects in the above field
  • Pojects will be accomplished in reputed industries and organizations.
  • Job placement assistance will be important consideration for those who complete the project.

Additional Focus

In addition to project work, there is emphasis on ‘Academics’ and ‘Additional Focus’ at NICIT. This covers life skills, soft skills, managerial skills and personality development.
While academics covers theory part related to the project work and additional focus covers following:
  • Communication Skills covering, presentation skills & language skills including importance of English in ICET field.
  • Personality development including leadership and team building exercise
  • Project management and business development
  • hands on pc internet
  • career guidance

About 'ADDITIONAL FOCUS'

Knowledge base is not just enough for a professional career. There is a necessity to focus on some special aspects which make you more worthy and useful for professional career. This for example we can say like the importance of garnishing in cooking, like the importance of polishing the stones to make it diamond, you also have to develop certain additional skills to present your knowledge to others. These skills include personal skills, human skills and managerial skills. These skills actually decide your success in both personal and professional life. It also helps you to improve your job performance and quality of work and to rise up to managerial position and building up a successful team. Knowledge and attaining of these skills can lead to a successful professional career for fresh students.

NECESSITY OF 'ADDITIONAL FOCUS' IN INPLANT TRAINING & PROJECT WORK

This is 21st century, where great knowledge explosion is happening with ample opportunities for all. There are opportunities for all of us, but it depends on us how much proficient and talented we are to grab these opportunities. Opportunities will be available only to those who will groom themselves to form the truly global workforce. So acquiring and building of proficiency is vital to gain a competitive edge in today’s challenging and fast paced work environment

Additional focus offers students the intellectual insights in to real world, which enables the students to acquire the latest knowledge and skills required to be a good player in the global world. It will help the student to churn out their talents by providing relevant knowledge and skills and motivate them to succeed.

It prepares the students for making meaningful contributions in an increasingly complex global society. That is why additional focus is added to the curriculum of In-plant training.

BENEFITS OF ‘ADDITIONAL FOCUS’ TRAINING

It has been found that Engineering & Science students lack a lot in Communication & management skills. It requires them to do another post graduate diploma in such subjects. Our emphasis is to bridge this gap and get them ready for their professional careers and thus saving money & time while retaining all values of Engineering & Science for which they spent vital time of their life.

It has been found that M.B.A. student try to forget Engineering & Science but do more on management. Thus, Additional Focus provides a balancing act between academics, practical and professional work

Salient points which can benefit from additional focus

  • To raise their intellectual capacity by providing knowledge in soft skills
  • To equip the students with skills to prepare them for challenging careers.
  • To focus their skills in such a way so that they can apply their knowledge in a result- oriented manner.
  • To provide high quality, value-based, career-oriented soft skill training for students
  • To facilitate students in understanding, developing, integrating and applying both knowledge and skills.
  • To produce energetic, effective, efficient and ethical graduates to meet the desired needs of the dynamic world and serve the society.
  • To develop over-all personality with special emphasis on communication and leadership skills.
  • To make them effective and efficient to deliver their technical knowledge to their employers and customers
  • To make them confident enough to face the challenges of global career
  • To make them capable enough to rise up in their career ladder in future

Thus with the special emphasis on Additional focus we try to develop the over-all personality of the technical professionals so that they will be more efficient and effective than others when they go for their first job-interview.

METHDOLOGY

All students have to undergo an academic & aptitude test. This allows faculty to understand their strength and weakness and a detailed analysis is carried out to allocate project. Weekly tests and group discussions form part of their training & project work. Students are given a thorough understanding of various aspects of projects namely project survey, study, analysis, system design & technology, bills of materials, costing, implementation and applications. Students are also given a briefing on various types of projects, project management & implementation, AMC etc

REPORT WRITING & CERTIFICATION

On completion of project work and training each student has to write “Project Report” for submission to their institutes and organizations. A written test and viva is conducted to award grades to the students on this basis. Two certificates are issued to each candidates one for project work and another for ‘Additional Focus’. This is shown below.
